NATURE WORKS ITS MAGIC FOR MENTAL HEALTH
“Spending time in green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing” source: Mind
10th October is World Mental Health Day. The theme in 2021 is “Mental Health in an Unequal World”. At Sky Park Farm, we firmly believe spending time outside in nature as it has a hugely positive impact on mental wellbeing. Whether going for a walk, growing your own food and flowers, or being around animals – being outside can have a really positive effect. According to Mind, being in nature can
- improve your mood
- reduce feelings of stress or anger
- help you take time out and feel more relaxed
- improve your physical health
- improve your confidence and self-esteem
- help you be more active
- help you make new connections
- provide peer support
Lily, one of our Rangers, says: “I love working outside on the farm and with the deer. Breathing in the fresh air every day feels so good. Watching the deer frolic in the paddocks and building a relationship with these magical creatures is so rewarding. I often laugh out loud at their antics!”
Walking through the races allows visitors to pause, reflect and connect with the natural world around them, enjoying the raw beauty of the South Downs and The Hangers, or noticing the small changes to the trees and wildlife through the seasons. Interacting directly with animals by feeding these magical creatures can bring deep rooted joy.
Sky Park Farm is open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm. The Grazing Rooms, Farm Shop and Butcher are opening soon.
