HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM SKY PARK FARM

01.01.2022

Wow! What a year. Since the Farm Experience opened on 21st May, and then the Farm Shop, Butcher and Grazing Rooms in October, we have welcomed tens of thousands of visitors through our doors. Subscribers to our Deer Friends newsletter have been enjoying both regular updates from across the Sky Park Farm experience, as well as special offers and early bird tickets for events. The chatter and murmurs of appreciation in The Grazing Rooms have been really rewarding for our team in the kitchen under the masterful guidance of Executive Chef Matt Crow and Stan Perry, our head chef. Hawie, our butcher, is building on his reputation not only as an expert butcher with the varied cuts on offer, but also his cooking knowledge and advice! Our team in the Visitor Centre, led by Michael Harris, have really enjoyed the delightful stories from children and adults as they return from meeting and feeding the deer, exploring the Farm Trail, enjoying a picnic in the grounds and children sharing their most daring feat in the Adventure Playground! There are still people talking about the delicious and now famous Sky Park Farm Pizza on the Terrace that visitors enjoyed during the summer months!

Our Executive Chef Matt Crow is busy putting together some exciting new initiatives for 2022 across the Farm Shop and Deli, working with Becky Harris our Operations Manager.  We will also soon be announcing the date for our first Dinner Series event in The Grazing Rooms! A unique opportunity to experience an evening sharing the exceptional skills of our chefs with a Tasting Menu accompanied by specially paired wines.

While Dominic Strutt, our Estate Manager, and the Rangers will continue to grow and nurture our herds of red, white and sika deer, maintaining the focus on exceptional quality farmed venison, he is also working with the grounds team to install Tree Top Towers, our exciting new feature in the Adventure Playground. Offering a fresh challenge sure to delight children, the new installation will require us to close the whole playground for a few weeks from 4th January for safety. While this work is underway, the Farm Experience will be free to visitors.

The Deer Hub has also been busy, hosting events from deer husbandry and farm management to school visits and wreath making. With more educational events planned for next year, 2022 is looking to be an exciting year!

With rave reviews from visitors this year, we are delighted to have ben able to offer a truly wonderful experience. From the Farm Experience to dining in The Grazing Rooms, grabbing a coffee during a bike ride to shopping for produce, we couldn’t be happier with our first year, sharing our mission that everyone leaves with a smile.

To thank our teams on site for all their hard work during 2021, we will be closed from 4th January. The Farm Shop and Butcher will reopen on 10th January, the Visitor Experience on 11th January and The Grazing Rooms on 12th January.

We wish you all a healthy and happy New Year. We can’t wait to continue sharing our devotion to deer with you during 2022.

Stay in touch via our newsletter and social media channels for information about our events and promotions.
