Celebrating Our Hampshire Suppliers for Hampshire Food Festival

06.07.2022

Hampshire Food Festival runs from 1st to 31st July. In its 20th year, this glorious celebration of the region’s food and drink is the largest food festival in the country. At Sky Park Farm, we are passionate about our local suppliers and proud to feature a range of Hampshire based food and drink suppliers in our Farm Shop and Deli and across our menus in The Grazing Rooms.

The Food Festival is organised by Hampshire Fare, and today we celebrate the following members whose produce is available across Sky Park Farm.

Chalkstream Trout ChalkStream source, prepare and deliver the finest, freshest rainbow trout from their sustainable farms on the River Itchen and the River Test directly to restaurants across the UK. These world-famous spring-fed chalk streams with ‘gin clear’ water, constant water flows and excellent light and vegetation create havens for the fish, making them rich and lean with a distinctive, sensational taste.

The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight was originally founded over 60 years ago, when ‘Granny Norah’ first planted a few cloves in her garden.

Since then, inspired by an interest in and a love of garlic, generations of the Boswell family have explored the culture and history of garlic and have grown their business to include an amazing range of garlic-infused products from fresh garlic to delicious garlic mayonnaise and chutneys, garlicky butter and cheese, garlic ice cream and even black garlic beer!

Hampshire Cheese Company is a multi-award winning, artisan cheesemaker who have joined the ranks of the best cheeses in the world with their much loved Tunworth and Winslade handcrafted soft cheeses. Both cheeses are made with cow’s milk from herds of a mixed herd of Holstein / Friesian, Swiss Brown and Montbeliarde cows giving a creamy high protein milk which is perfect for cheesemaking. Tunworth is a soft mould ripened cheese with a full flavour and is fantastic paired with an English sparkling wine. Winslade has a gentle floral flavour and is best served using a spoon. Its spruce band imparts a distinctive piney note. Delicious paired with a local cider.

Exton Park Vineyard Exton Park Vineyard is an award-winning English Sparkling Wine producer located in Hampshire’s South Downs National Park, just outside Winchester. The only ‘Grape-to-Bottle’ sparkling producer in Hampshire, their 55 acre single-vineyard is planted on pure chalk soils, producing vibrant wines with a distinctive, mineral style, and consistent quality.

Briddlesford Farm Dairy Dairy producers from the Isle of Wight, Briddlesford Farm create the full breadth of dairy produce from milk to cream, cheese to butter. Their extensive range of products include a cheddar, halloumi-style cheese, Caerphilly and fetter.

Mermaid Gin The first and only distillery on the Isle of Wight was licensed in 2014 by lifelong friends Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett.  Their first barrel of whisky, laid down in 2015, was soon followed by Mermaid Gin, a smooth, elegant and complex gin made with locally foraged rock samphire and Boadicea hops. The spirit range is hand-crafted in small batches and slowly distilled before being cut with local spring water and bottled on the Island. The result is an award-winning range of spirits with a contemporary style, layered complexity and signature smooth delivery that brings this unique Island to life.

Cold Pressed Oil The Cold Pressed Oil Company was founded in 2012 by Charlie Gardner, “To produce the best quality and flavoured cold pressed rapeseed oil possible” and produces their oil from the fields that surround their processing plant, keeping food miles to a minimum.  Multi-award winning, the team knows every detail of their crops, watching them grow throughout the year and only selecting the ripest seeds to crush to ensure the highest quality of oil, year after year. With its high smoke point and outstanding flavour, rapeseed oil is versatile for both hot and cold dishes.

River Coffee Roasters is on a mission to source, roast and supply unique and exquisite specialty coffees, aiming for a ‘sustainable journey from bean to cup’. Sourcing their coffee through ethical relationships, they collaborate directly with real people and communities across Latin America.  Land, water, altitude and sunlight are key foundations in the production of coffee. Without people and communities coffee production is not possible. The River Coffee Roasters’ logo showcases these important foundations and ties the strong links to the people and communities involved in the production of coffee.

Hampshire Fare champions local produce to consumers and trade businesses, and aims to inspire residents to discover the abundance of produce available on the doorstep and establish Hampshire as a top foodie destination.
