National Asparagus Day 23rd April

22.04.2022

Let’s enjoy the spring food harvests and celebrate National Asparagus Day!

Asparagus season only lasts six to eight weeks and as vegetable gardeners will know, it’s a labour of love growing asparagus! From planting the seed it takes five years before you can eat the asparagus! If you plant asparagus crowns but you’ll still need to wait until the third year before harvesting them to eat.

For those of us who don’t have a vegetable patch, our Farm Shop is selling locally grown asparagus and it’s utterly delicious. We source our asparagus from Rogate in peak season which starts next week. Each producer’s season will start at slightly different times so we can all enjoy British asparagus for a few months a year.

The Grazing Rooms has cooked up a delicious dish to showcase locally grown asparagus. The current menu includes ‘New Season Asparagus with creamy goats curd, sauce vierge, toasted seeds and wild garlic’. Book your table soon to enjoy this seasonal treat.

We have something for everyone to keep life simple, fun and enjoy the wonderful produce of local suppliers.

The Grazing Rooms is open Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm, Sunday 9am – 4.30pm with breakfast and lunch menus served Wednesday to Saturday and lunch menu on Sunday’s. Booking available and recommended Wednesday – Sunday.

The Farm Shop has a variety of mainly locally sourced, quality produce for cupboard, fridge or freezer and is open seven days a week, Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm, Sunday 9am – 4.30pm.
